Technology · AI engine observation

Observe AI engines without mistaking an API for real experience.

Each engine is observed differently: supplier API, user-surface protocol, simulation or manual proof. For each one, Aive shows the method used, its status and the evidence recorded: model, date, parameters, region and cadence.

Scope a GEO Audit An API response must never be presented as the front-end experience of every user.

How does Aive observe AI engines?

Aive queries the agreed engines on a defined question panel, using a declared method for each environment: supplier API, user-surface protocol, simulation or manual proof. Each question is asked several times to measure answer variance. Observed answers are archived with model, date, parameters, region and cadence. Each engine’s status is shown.

Repeated sampling
Asking the same engine the same question several times to account for answer variability.
Variance
The spread of answers across samples and days. It is shown with every score.
User surface
The interface a user actually sees, by country, language and interface.

Measured: dated observation protocol. Monitored: regular observation, partial coverage. Same matrix as the Technology page. Other engines, including Grok, DeepSeek and Microsoft Copilot, are under study. The engines observed in a GEO Audit are agreed at scoping.

Reading rule

An API response is not everyone’s experience.

An answer obtained through an API must never be presented as the front-end experience of every user. Country, language, interface, history and model version change what a person sees. Aive shows the method before the result.

Methods

Four ways to observe, four levels of proof.

Supplier API

A documented call with model and parameters recorded. Reproducible, but distinct from the consumer interface.

User surface

A protocol that observes the real interface, with country, interface, query and date.

Simulation

A reconstruction depending on configuration, labelled as such and never presented as real observation.

Manual proof

A controlled capture, with channel, method and date, when no automated route is validated.

Protocol

From question panel to dated report.

What is shown, what never is.

Always recorded

  • Engine, model and method
  • Date, region and language
  • Parameters and cadence
  • Raw answer and cited sources

Always shown

  • Denominator of every rate
  • Observation period
  • Variance across samples
  • Engine status

Never claimed

  • That an API response holds for every user
  • That a citation equals a click
  • That a referral proves causality
  • That observed visibility will last

The limits of observation.

  • Observation covers a defined question panel; it is not exhaustive of all usage.
  • Engine answers vary from one sample to the next and from one day to the next.
  • A simulation is never a real observation; it is labelled as such.
  • The “Preview” and “To be validated” statuses mean availability depends on the agreed configuration.
Frequently asked questions

Questions about engine observation.

Why ask the same question several times?

Because AI engines do not always answer the same way. Repeated sampling measures that variance, so no conclusion is drawn from a single answer.

Is an API response what users actually see?

Not necessarily. Country, language, interface and model version can change the answer displayed. Aive always distinguishes the API method from a user-surface protocol.

Are all engines observed in every GEO Audit?

No. Engines, method and cadence are agreed at scoping, according to each environment’s status and your priorities.
